I agree they should not expand. They already have too many teams.

Relocate first. See how franchise are doing first once you take the poor ones and put them in new or proper markets. If you have 30 teams finally being healthy then maybe look at expanding

Nah James... you're 100% wrong. If you think 2 more teams would destroy the talent pool, start writing for something else, cause thats delusional.

32 teams should be the limit. I would relocate a struggling team to Quebec, and put 2 teams in the Western Conference. I'm thinking Seattle is a lock, possibly do Kansas city or Portland. I don't think a sports team in Las Vegas is a good idea at all.

Agree 34 teams is probably 2 to many, and that a Las Vegas franchise is a HORRIBLE idea.

But the "lack of good argument" for expansion is just plain wrong. Adding 2 teams would actually give us a better balanced pool of talent. You can easily find 2 guys on every team that are mis-cast and would likely perform better in a different situation.

I think Seattle and Quebec are great spots that would thrive. If they want teams in other places, then they'd probably be best served relocating some teams.

I don't agree with the Toronto part. The Leaf die hards that drive to Buffalo or Ottawa will still come, they won't just switch allegiances.

Yeah they might, but I still don't think it's a gonna help Buffalo or Ottawa in any way and could hurt them. Still don't know why they'd even try to piss off the leafs though.

Having a second Toronto team by far helps the NHL more than hurts it. The additional revenue goes to Ottawa and Buffalo.

If anything it's another fan base within driving distance of Buffalo or Ottawa.

However I agree it's not a good idea. Toronto is not like New York. The Leafs have dominated that market for decades upon decades. I don't think a new team can just come in and steal fans

They don't have to steal fans. There are thousands of hockey fans in Toronto who have never been to an NHL game.

considering that the average Joe can't afford to take his family to see the Leafs on a regular basis, I'm sure a second Toronto team could fill seats faster than a game of musical chairs, although I'm basing this logic on the ideal of cheaper ticket prices...

Bingo. That's why they'll succeed. People can't see NHL hockey in Toronto.

I agree!! Relocation to stronger markets should be their first priority. At the same time try to balance out the Conferences.

Moving Florida is a no-brainer, Seattle perhaps? I'm sure Lu would love that

I'm surprised as well. You plop a Leaf pic on your blog to gain hits and it takes four comments for someone to state what everyone has been thinking for the last 15 years..

Florida and Arizona are obvious to relocate. The Sens need to slide over to Quebec. So Florida = Seattle and Arizona = Toronto. Then Domi can play in the same city that made his dad famous.

Move Nashville to London for the hell of it. We could support a team better than half of these franchises

no you have those numbers wrong. The population of greater new york city is indeed 8.4 million. Greater toronto is 6.4 million. the actual toronto city within that is 2.7. According to wikipedia torontos Surrounding area is 5.5 million as well. greater toronto can be considered almost 12 million.

No doubt. And that is probably a good thing. The city of Toronto has enough problems as it is, don't need to start giving them real NHL hockey just so that they can start lighting poop on fire when we lose.
